Q: What are the age requirements for participation?
A: Participants must be any boy or girl aged 5 to 8 years by the end of the calendar year (12/31/2023). For instance, a child born on December 1, 2016, is eligible, while one born on December 1, 2014, is too old to participate.

Q: How do we register our child(ren) for Spring Flag Football?
A: Navigate to the 'Register Online' section on the GHYFL website's left-hand navigation. Online registrations with payment via MasterCard or Visa are required for secure transactions.

Q: What do registration fees cover?
A: Registration fees contribute to county field usage, game officials' payment, uniforms (reversible shirts), league insurance, and team equipment.

Q: When does the season start, and how long does it last?
A: Visit the website's Fall and Spring sections for season start and duration details.

Q: What equipment does my child need to provide?
A: Rubber cleat shoes, solid black shorts (without pockets), and a colored teeth/mouth guard.

Q: What equipment is supplied to the team?
A: The League provides each coach with balls, flag belts, and marker cones for practice.

Q: Can my child be assigned to the same team as a neighbor?
A: Due to program growth, special requests, including this one, cannot be accommodated.

Q: Where will the games be played?
A: Games will take place at the Grizzly Sports Complex.

Q: How are positions determined?
A: Coaching staff determines positions, offering each child the chance to try different roles, ensuring fair placement for the team's benefit and the best experience for each child.

Q: Where will practices take place?
A: The GHYFL approved access to local school fields; practice locations and times are determined by the team coach.

Q: How many nights each week will our child’s team practice?
A: Teams can practice up to three nights a week before games start and two nights a week afterward, weather permitting.

Q: Can practice and/or games be canceled due to weather conditions?
A: Weather conditions may lead to cancelations, but games at the Grizzly Sports Complex proceed even in the rain.

Q: What are the weight restrictions for Spring Flag Football?
A: There are no weight requirements for participation in the Flag Football program.

Q: How are divisions decided upon?
A: Participants are grouped into divisions by age: 5/6 and 7/8.

Q: Can children play outside of their age division?
A: B
oys are permitted to play in their age division or any division above it. However, they cannot play in a lower age division. For girls, there is an additional flexibility. They can play in their age division, but they are also allowed to play in one division lower, provided they are within one year of the lower age division's requirement. For instance, a girl who is 7 years old as of December 31st is eligible to play in the 5/6 age division. Similarly, a girl who is 9 years old on December 31st can participate in the 7/8 age division.

Q: Does Flag Football include full contact like tackle football?
A: Flag Football is a non-contact sport, distinct from regular tackle football.

Q: What is GHYFL's refund policy?
A: GHYFL has a no-refund policy once players commit. Exceptions can be considered; contact the league commissioner or registrar. A $50 processing fee applies per registration if a refund is granted.
